Our History
European Imports was founded in 1978 by Seymour and Beverly Binstein as a small, family-run business dedicated to bringing the finest European specialty foods to the U.S. market. With a passion for quality and a keen eye for emerging culinary trends, the company quickly grew from a local Chicago-based operation into a national leader in the specialty food industry. Every year, the Specialty Food Association recognizes and celebrates the actions and special qualities of those people widely recognized as having grown the industry, improved the Association, inspired companies and nurtured individuals through their Lifetime Achievement Awards. In 2018, Seymour Binstein received recognition for his immeasurable contributions to the specialty industry when he was presented with the Specialty Food Association's Lifetime Achievement Award.
